Neil McDonald has begun the task of getting Blackpool back into the Championship.

The club were relegated after finishing bottom of the Championship in a highly disappointing campaign. Even though they were a Premier League outfit only a few years ago, bad management by the board has resulted in this extraordinary decline. The club has had six managers in just two and a half years and this is a perfect example of the gross mismanagement. However, McDonald is confident that he will be able to put together a promotion challenge with the right group of players.
The club has already undergone a lot of changes with regard to playing staff andMcDonald is expected to bring in more changes between now and the transfer window closes.

Attracting top players to Blackpool will be extremely difficult since they would not want to play in the League One. Yet, the prospect of being in the Championship in less than 12 months could be a motivating factor. Blackpool finished last season with just 26 points from the 46 games. There does not seem to be any indication about stability sinceMcDonald has been appointed on a rolling contract for just 12 months. Yet,McDonald is confident of doing a good job at Bloomfield Road.

“I’ve already spoken to a few players to see if they fancy coming to join me in this new adventure. We’ve got the history of the football club but we’ve got to write our own chapter. We’ve got to try to recruit as many players as we can in the right positions to try to create that dynamic to win games. And then we’ve got to push on as much as we can towards the top of the table,” said the manager, who has worked with Sam Allardyce in the past.
