Following the break-out season that Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour had last season, he became a wanted man as several clubs showed interest to snap him up on loan this summer. Gilmour was promoted to the Chelsea first team by the Blues former manager Frank Lampard after spotting him in one of the training sessions he had with the first team. Lampard nurtured the young midfielder and handed him his first senior team appearance and he enjoyed a fine debut for the London club. Gilmour continued to impress Lampard and equally continued to earn himself more minutes under the management of the former England international midfielder.

Blackpoolare one of the three promoted teams in the English Championship this season and they have found out their next opponents in the English Championship after the fixtures for the 2021/22 season was released by the English Football League (EFL) on Thursday. Blackpool will start the new English Championship season at the home of Bristol City on week one. The new English Championship campaign kicks off on August 7.

Former Blackpool coach Ian Dawes has been appointed to take charge of Tranmere Rovers through the League Two playoffs following the dismissal of Keith Hill.

Tranmere Rovers have made the bold and potentially damaging call of dismissing Keith Hill nine days before they start their playoff campaign against Morecambe. Former Blackpool coach Dawes will take charge of the team for the League Two playoff semi-final tie with Morecambe.

Hill led Tranmere Rovers to seventh position at the end of the regular season in League Two and it was enough for a playoff spot. He paid dearly with his job after a disappointing end to the season that saw the team win just two of the last 11 games.

Blackpool manager Neil Critchley has given update on the injury picked up by defender Daniel Gretarssonduring the Sunderland game at the weekend. The 24-year-old picked up a shoulder injury during the League One match that ended in a 1-0 win for the Tangerines at the expense of the Black Cats.

Critchley spoke to the media on Thursday in what was his pre-match press conference ahead of the Shrewsbury Town game this weekend. During his presser, he talked about the shoulder injury picked up by Blackpool defender Gretarsson who also had a dead leg during the same Sunderland game.
According to the Blackpool manager, the shoulder injury is not as serious as it was initially feared. The player is expected to be back in action within two weeks.

When Arsenal struck a deal with Blackpool for the loan transfer of youngster Daniel Ballard, some of the club's fans were against the idea and spoke of their disappointment at the club's decision to let him leave. However, the move comes at a time when the player was not getting the opportunity to play football and that seemed like the only available option back then.

The 21-year-old has been impressing since signing for Blackpool and his development took a huge step further after he scored his very first EFL goal for Blackpool on Tuesday. He was the star of the show as he helped his temporary club score a 1-1 draw against fellow League One club Crewe Alexandra. Ballard was the scorer of the first goal of the match after making a couple of fine efforts and runs while terrorizing the Crewe defenders.

Blackpool vs Peterborough Called Off Because Of Frozen Pitch

Blackpool will have to forget about playing their next league fixture against league rivals Peterborough for now after the tie was canceled as a result of a frozen pitch. The decision was made after a local referee visited the pitch that was earlier designated to host the tie and reported that it was in an unplayable condition. The Bloomfield Road pitch was carefully inspected on Saturday morning and has now been declared unfit to host the tie for now.

This is the second Blackpool home game to be postponed for this same reason in just a space of five days.

According to various reports, Blackpool are all set to snap up Reading goalkeeper Sam Walker on a loan spell on a short-term basis. It comes as a surprising move given that the 29-year-old is yet to make an appearance for Reading in the Championship since last featuring for the Royals in the 2018/19 season.

Walker has been displaced from the number one position by Rafael since his move to the club and now, he has been tipped to join Blackpool on loan for a short-term. It is a move that Walker is expected to be eager to make given that his continued stay at Reading would only mean he continues to become the second-choice goalkeeper.

Blackpool recorded one of their biggest wins of the season following the victory over leaders Hull City in a week 18 clash in League One also known as the third level of English football. Blackpool stunned the Tigers to edge a five-goal thriller at Bloomfield Road on Tuesday night. The result ensured that they maintained their unbeaten run in the league. The Tangerines have now gone four games without defeat in the league with the last loss coming during the trip to Doncaster Rovers towards the end of last month. They were beaten 3-2 by Doncaster Rovers for their seventh league defeat of the season.

Hull City are still the leaders in League One despite their fifth league defeat of the season, which was inflicted upon them by Blackpool. The hosts had to come from behind to beat Hull City 3-2 and maintain their unbeaten league run in the month of December.
