Former Blackpool coach Ian Dawes has been appointed to take charge of Tranmere Rovers through the League Two playoffs following the dismissal of Keith Hill.

Tranmere Rovers have made the bold and potentially damaging call of dismissing Keith Hill nine days before they start their playoff campaign against Morecambe. Former Blackpool coach Dawes will take charge of the team for the League Two playoff semi-final tie with Morecambe.

Hill led Tranmere Rovers to seventh position at the end of the regular season in League Two and it was enough for a playoff spot. He paid dearly with his job after a disappointing end to the season that saw the team win just two of the last 11 games.
